Learn to See Auras
Exerpt from book You Are Energy ©, by Connie Dohan
Without question, the most common request I get is for instruction, classes, workshops, mentoring on how to see the human aura. With practice, almost every one can have some measure of success in viewing the aura. The only exception I have found to this is a small number of people who had the older Lasik eye surgery.
We unknowingly have two blocks in our way before we even start.
In the old days, it was common to see auras and they were often depicted as halos or orbs. Today we have accustomed our vision to a different vibratory level – computers and televisions – and have let the ability to tune into other states wane or lie dormant.
Secondly most people do not know what they are looking for. There is usually a vague idea of a glow but what color? What shape? How far from the body?
I have been able to see the human aura for many years. I was not born with this ability but taught myself. I tried all the books and articles with no or little success. So, I tried looking outside the box, to find a method of viewing auras that would work. This is what I discovered.
The Human Aura
The human aura is an energy field that reflects our health, mental activity and emotional state. It also shows disease long before the onset of symptoms.
In the previous chapters, we discovered that the human energy field can extend several feet out from the body, depending upon the health of the individual. The glowy outer egg can be harder to see simply because it is not in the same place on every person. So it makes more sense to start looking for the aura at layer one which is hugs the skin and therefore becomes the same reference point on everybody.
It is important to remember that when you are viewing the human aura you are most likely seeing the aura of the T-shirt not the person. You will see the entire human aura only if your subject is naked. Otherwise you will be seeing the true aura only on head, hands and any uncovered area. You cannot get a clear view of the aura through clothing. Even neutral colored clothing will block and dim the aura making it difficult to see.
How to See the Aura
Everything has an aura. For learning purposes, it is easiest to begin observing the aura by using an inanimate object. For the sake of this exercise get something solid and more or less rectangular like a book or a boxed deck of playing cards – if you can find two, so much the better. Wrap one in red paper and one blue paper. (The colors should be primary shades and plain – not patterned.) Be creative and use fabric or a kitchen towel or cloth if the is no colored paper handy.
Red and blue have been chosen because the auras of the colors blue and red are the brightest and easiest to see. Blue has a yellow aura and red has a green aura. The brightness and tone of the aura varies with the shade and tone of the shade used; so use bright primary colors.
To see the aura you have to be able to relax and concentrate, at the same time while focusing the eyes in a special way.
The light must be soft, bordering on dim – no harsh light shining or reflecting in your eyes!
The background must be plain. If necessary, drop a sheet or a towel or a piece of plain white paper to make it so.
Get one of your covered items. It does not matter which you use first, the red or the blue. Stand it upright on a table several feet from you. Experiment with the distance until you find what is best for you.
Close your eyes; take a few deep breaths and relax. When you are quieted and centered, open your eyes look at the item.
Now, be daydreaming while you look at your item. That is: focus your eyes on nothing, a little to the side and past it. Gently hold and get used to that focus but do not strain your eyes or tense your eyes or forehead. Concentrate! You need a gentle, steady un-focus.
If you need to blink, go right ahead, otherwise tension will cause your eyes to tense and water. Blink normally and quickly without changing focus. Do not give it a second thought. The aura may disappear for a second, but it will reappear quickly if you stay relaxed and hold your focus.
Shortly you will see a pale narrow aura coming from the item. Hold the focus, do not look AT it. Soon a bright yellow or green aura will start building up from the object. If you change focus or look directly at it, the aura will disappear.
You may wish to gather several items and cover them, each with a different colored plain paper. View them one at a time and note the auric color for each. Next try using two at a time. Note how the auric colors affect and interact with each other.
The next step is to progress to a plant – something easily seen indoors like a potted plant or a vase of flowers. The aura here is more complex. An orange hue comes from the green of the stems and leaves. Another hue will emanate from the petals. You will also see a more distinct etheric layer (blue fuzz) and a shimmering optical effect around them. This shimmering in the energy field indicates a living, animate object.
Next, if possible, use an animal, dog, cat, rabbit, bird etc., if you have one. Observe them when they are resting. Can you see the etheric body (blue fuzz) rising and falling with each breath?
Next, observe your own aura. This should be done directly – not looking in a mirror. This can be done both inside and outside in the sun. Hold your bare hand or arm out and observe it against its background.
When you get opportunity, try aura viewing it with a human subject. Just remember not to try too hard and to do it exactly the same as in the original exercise with the wrapped item. You will want to see as much bare skin as possible. Make sure your volunteer is wearing short sleeves and possibly short pants or a skirt. You want to be able to study the bare skin area against a neutral background.
Looking close to the body, the first thing you will see is the etheric aura, like pale smoke or blue fuzz clinging to the skin. Next you will see the shimmering optical effect in the air extending from several inches to a couple of feet deep, depending on the strength of their aura. Keep trying and the aura's color will build up and out from the etheric (first) layer. The second layer will first appear as a narrow band of color next to the etheric layer. This will expand slowly, if you hold your focus, until the second layer is several inches or more thick.
You can practice aura viewing at conference meetings, airports, grocery lines or anywhere you are stuck waiting. Practice will help you see auras everywhere.
If you want to see, interpret and affect the individual auric layers, you are extending beyond the simple realm of “seeing auras”. I would suggest taking a course, such as Chios Healing which is a three level course that can be done on line (information at www.ChiosHealing.com).
